I've missed your poetry. I'm glad you aren't a slave to the feed, what you do is so much more than "content". I'm looking forward to the giant 14 volume multimedia archive you'll publish in your 80s. In the meantime, I cherish these glimpses.
I love that idea. I hope to put out a big archive of writing/art/sound/film someday! Hopefully I'll put something else out physically before I'm 80 though. Thanks for reading :)
hi Lora, my name is Ro, ive been following you since the tumblr days, around 10 years now. and your newsletter is one of the few that i am subscribed to and actually read. everytime i do i feel like your writing aids in a refocusing of soul. sharing your writing freely, your art and way of being, reminds me of the world i want to be in and the communities i want to nurture and see become reality. thank you for your continued vulnerability and dedication to your craft and spiritual practice ( do you conaider it that? ) . i am 28 and going to university for the first time, i am studying sociology, i used to write poetry but now I am writing research papers. i wnjoy reading your newsletters on the bus to class. thank you for everything throigh these years.
hi Ro, nice to meet you. This is very touching. I’m honored you read my newsletter, and that it’s having that effect on you. Reading others’ work reminds me of that too: what kind of world I want to be in, and how it’s possible to create that world every day with small actions. Yes, it is a spiritual practice to me, though I don’t always remember that, or call it that. When I forget, I get trapped in judgements about my ego, career, status, and accolades. When I remember, I see poetry as one way of paying attention. It’s not the only way, and there’s really no reason it’s any better than taking a walk, riding a bus, singing a song, or cooking. But poetry comes out naturally when I am noticing each moment. It can be a way to get back to noticing the moment but it is also a natural response to being in that flow. When my spirit is content and I am tending to the small actions of my life, then poetry often comes. I love that this newsletter is a part of a routine in your life. That inspires me to write more of them! And congrats on going back to school. I took years off of community college, then returned and transferred when I was 26. Now I’m 32 and in grad school. Life is a weird, funny path!
So very Tao of you. ❤️

In school I always tried to sneak poems into my essays. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t. Hehe
These are lovely.
